Almost all models and variants from BMW have been customized by AC Schnitzer and the company`s new “kid on the block” – the BMW i8 Roadster – couldn’t have gotten away with it. Below is the tuner`s new extensive program carried out on the freshly rolled out i8 Roadster, which kinda resembles with the Coupe model that they brought to Geneva, in March.

Even though the new convertible from BMW looks mind-blowing in stock form, the tuner`s full body treatment provides a more aggressive attitude, a kind of a space ship on modified four wheels as well. Every panel and every component has been customized to make it look the way it should have been in the first place.

From where I stand, the car`s first striking change is the new set of wheels. They refer to the tuner`s most prolific, the AC1 lightweight forged bi-color wheels, sizing 21 inches front and rear, providing a decrease in weight, which is around 4,4 kg.

The wheels go hand-in-hand with the new custom lowering spring kit, which brings the car closer to the ground with around 20 to 25 mm, front and rear.

As for the exterior, the car now features a carbon fiber package with plenty of stand-out elements. We are looking here are the famous AC Schnitzer front grille and 160 mm emblems on the sides, along with the new front spoiler tweaks, middle front spoiler, mirror covers, front side wings or front and rear air outlets. There is also the ‘Racing’ rear wing for more downforce or the door handle panels.

The interior also gets some new elements, which are in contrast with the exterior. There is aluminum covering the pedals, iDrive cover or the footrest, while the floor mats are velour.

As for performance under the hood, the BMW i8 Roadster by AC Schnitzer remains stock. This means a three-cylinder turbocharged engine plus an electric motor, which delivers a total of 369 horsepower. It also manages an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, meaning a 0.2 second difference compared with the i8 Coupe. The new battery also allows for an average consumption of 70 eMPG.

While it may be debatable as to whether or not the movie lived up to the hype, it seems that it had a strong enough impact on some to the extent that they decided to incorporate the movie into their own projects. Such is the story of Rene Turrek, an artist that decided to incorporate the movie into the automotive culture by designing a “Suicide Squad” themed BMW i8.

While it may seem less interesting as a project build because of virtually no performance modifications, the sheer amount detail the outside of the car outputs is enough to convince any skeptic. First thing that pops out is the three tone paint job. The red, toxic green and pure white blend in accordingly to form the identity of the “Suicide Squad” BMW i8. The i8’s lines seem to blend in with the vast coloring applied to the body of the vehicle.

The hood seems to be the center of the masterpiece with a crazy Joker pulling down on his hair on a toxic green background surrounded by “Ha-ha” lettering. Rene Turrek’s design of the “Suicide Squad” BMW i8 is truly a masterpiece. However, it is not just about the look of this particular BMW i8. It is also about the ingenuity surrounding the design itself.

Rene Turrek has incorporated green LED lights on the hood design, projecting the movie’s atmosphere further into reality. The “Ha-ha” lettering was also painted with a special glow in the dark paint which makes the car seem full of surprises on one hand and quite crazy on the other. Without a doubt this looks and feels like a car that The Joker himself would probably be interested in driving were it not simultaneously a silent hybrid vehicle.

It is surprising how much of the BMW feeling has been kept in this particular vehicle. The BMW i8 by Rene Turrek is by no means an alter ego of the same vehicle. It retains the spirit and feel of the BMW while it takes on another meaning as well. The vehicle is a successful attempt at combining two aspects of two different worlds without canceling each other out.

The German tuner`s latest project involves the i8 plug-in hybrid model from BMW, which will be definitely well-received by journalists worldwide.

This particular model has been fitted with the tuner`s Carbon Aerodynamic Accessories package which consists of a plethora of carbon fiber composites, making it one of the most complete i8 in the tuning segment.

Starting with the cabin, the technicians from AC Schnitzer have added new touches, like aluminum pedal set, aluminum footrest and floor mats which bring a sportier feel and cozy look.
